This monument is dedicated to the seventh Panth of Budaa Dal Amar Martyr Dhan Dhan Baba Hanuman Singh Ji (Jathedaar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Ji). Baba Ji was born on 18 November 1755 at Narang Singh wala Jila, Ferozpur in the house of his father, Garja Singh Ji Baath. His mother’s name was Harnaam Kaur Ji. He attained the position of Jathedaar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib after the demise of Jathedar Akali Phoolan Singh Ji in the year 1823.

After the demise of Sikh Era’s great ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji in December, 1845. Sikh Era’s Dogras – Gulab Singh, Mishr Lal Singh and Tej Singh tied hands with Britishers in a conspiracy to let the Britishers take over the Sikh Kingdom. At that time, Maharani Jind Kaur wrote a letter to the great General of Sikh Panth – Sri Shaam Singh Ataari, the Budaa Dal of Khalsa Panth, the seventh Jathedar of the Panth – Baba Hanuman Singh Ji (Jathdaar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Ji) and to the the Amritsar Sahib requesting them to look in to the matter

Baba ji, along with 32000 Sikh soldiers, declared a war with the Britishers to acclaim the Sikh Kingdom and safeguard it. Sikh soldier lead by Baba ji killed more than 10,000 Britishers in the war and gave them a befitting reply. This was the first blood bath between Sikhs versus the British Raj.

Budaa Dal reached Nihang Singh’s Tauba in Patiala. The Maharaja of Patiala at that that, Maharaja Karan Singh, had shook hands with the Britishers and was involved in a conspiracy with them. He was responsible for martyrdom of more than 15 thousand sikhs in an attack on the sikhs. Their angeetha is now at Sahib Guru Sri Dukh Nivaaran Sahib in Patiala under the the jyoti.

Finally Sikh soldiers under the guidance of Baba Hanuman Singh Ji moved towards Kadaam while fighting the Britishers. Once the Sikh army reached Kadaam, Jathedaar Baba Hanumaan Singh Ji got severely injured after getting struck by a howitzer (short barrel weapon). Martyr Baba ji reached Rajpura while battling the enemies and then reached Sohana. Baba ji reached Sohana with thousands of Sikhs and in the age of 90 years he attained martyrdom at this holy place.
